retreat scrappin & photos...

Been a bit slack of late but I'm still here..
I was lucky enough to go on a scrapping Retreat a few weekends ago & had a great weekend away!! About 30 ladies & we had a fun time, got to see my sister to so that was good.
On Sunday, at the retreat, I did a photography workshop with
the fabulous Andrea Thompson. What a funny, talented lady, if you ever get
the chance to do a workshop with her go for it!! It was fantastic, its amazing what you can
learn in few hours with a good teacher!! Just the basics but a huge help
with how to take better photos.

Found this cute little guy in the garden & couldn't resist taking his pic!!

Andrea also, very generously, took some photos of us using our own camera's!!
With the right pose & person using the camera anyone can get a good photo,
I'm really pleased, if I say so myself :0) with the pics she took of me!!
I have seen some of the other shots that she took of the other
ladies in the class & theirs look fantastic!!
One tip she gave was always put some lipstick or lipgloss & mascara on before you
have your photo taken, adds some shine & brightens your eyes!!!
So there you go...

she takes amazing photos & this is here motto
"when i see beautiful moments...i see photographs"

one night at home the kids toasted them over a candle!!

A LO for Wendy's 20 piece Challenge over at Scrap with V.
Use 20 pieces of the same thing on a LO, mine was adhesive bling
in the flowers.
Just to be silly, our table at the Retreat decided to play Pass the LO!!
Each started with a base paper & one other item on there paper.
I stated with the white CS base & the blue glitter ribbon.
Then passed it around the table & each person added 1 thing to the page.
I love how mine came back, I even found the perfect photo & title
for the page once I got it back!! LOVE IT :0) & those birds on a wire,

scrappin...scrappin...scrappin...

This weekend Scrap with V are having a Cyber Crop, some great challenges going on & I've managed to get a few done.
http://forum.scrapbookingwithvanessa.com.au/

This is a little card that I made for Lindy's Card Challenge.
Her criteria was...
* Different card size than you'd normally use
* Minimalistic
* Something square
* Layers
* Ribbon or Lace
So... I made my card using 2 playing cards!! I joined them
together inside using some MM adhesive twill tape. I painted
the card face inside so that I can write a message easily!
A fun challenge that got me thinking a bit different :0)

This LO was what I ended up with after taking Miss Jules Mystery Class. I think it will be slightly different from hers but I'm really happy with it! Jules did a great job of giving instructions & I ended up with a fun LO. THANKS JULES!!

I did this LO for the March White with 1 challenge.
The criteria was...
White
Navy
Stars
I think I got them all in there OK?? Pics are of darling A before going to music recital night last year. He did really well & got an award for playing.
The new sketch is up over at Crafty Sketches, Kim did a fantastic sketch this month...

This last LO is my take on Kim's sketch over at Crafty Sketches.

Happy Sunday.

Peninsula families help with Paw Knock Appeal

Knock knock ... Kylie Howland and children Talia and Alex, of Margate, will doorknock for the Guide Dogs Pawknock Appeal.

MARGATE: ANIMAL lovers and community-minded people such as Kylie Howland and her children will pound the streets for a worthy canine cause this week. Ms Howland and her children Alex,10, and Talia,13, are part of the legion of more than 2500 Queenslanders who have volunteered to collect for Guide Dogs Queensland’s Pawknock Appeal. The Pawknock Appeal runs until Sunday, with volunteers ``paw-knocking’’ on the doors of neighbours, colleagues and local businesses. GDQ spokeswoman Donna Hurley said money raised by the Pawknock Appeal directly benefited Guide Dog services, ensuring the association could continue to provide the service at no charge to Queenslanders who were blind and vision-impaired. ``It costs $25,000 to breed and train every Guide Dog, yet the association receives no government funding towards its services,’’ Ms Hurley said. ``We’ve already received wonderful support right across the state and we can’t thank our volunteers and donors enough for their generosity.’’ She said the appeal helped to keep 90 guide dog users in the service. Ms Hurley said the Pawknock volunteers received a special Pawknock kit and could be identified by official Pawknock identification badges. To donate online to the Pawknock Appeal go to http://www.guidedogsqld.com.au/.

This was the story from out local paper, thank goodness its a good photo!! I was really impressed with the photographer that came to take our photo for the paper, he was really fun & took the time to make sure we didn't look like dills!! We door-knocked in our little street this morning & got a grand total of $70, nearly every house gave us a donation!! So we are very pleased with our little contribution, after all every little bit helps.

Surprise...

Happy Birthday to my big sister who turned 40 on Friday - 27th Feb.
We had a surprise party for her on Saturday night & she had no idea it was happening!!
So yay for everyone for keeping it quite, she thought there was just a
small group of us going out for dinner!!
Her she is party hat & drink in hand!!

& this is what I made for her as a keepsake, a frame for everyone to sign.

It was a 'L' themed dress-up & almost everyone dress-up for the occasion. My Mum was a 'Learner Driver' with her fluffy L plates front & back.

My Dad was a 'Labourer' & wasn't he playing the part well - beer on hand & sitting down!!
My brother was dressed as 'Lips' & pulled the kiss lips to match....

My gorgeous SIL dressed as a 'Leopard', don't you love her little tail out the back!!

Darling Miss T was a 'Lifeguard' & A was 'Luke Skywalker', lightsabber & all!!

Can you tell he didn't want to have his photo taken, couldn't get him to do an action shot!!

& me I was a 'Lady-beetle'!! Do you like my antenna?
DH didn't get to come to the party as we had double booked the weekend & he had a car thing to go to...oh well...we still had fun without him!! Aren't I mean....:0)
