whats been happening...

well...I went here on Sunday night...
...PINK...
& OMG that lady in one hot chick!!
& boy can she sing!!
Keep in mind that these pics were taken from the 3rd row from the back seats...how awesome does it look!! It was a huge show!! We were that far away & it was still amazing, I would have sat in the very back row mind you...wouldn't of cared as long as i could hear her sing!! Her stage was huge & it such a fantastic show.
This is my favourite photo that I took on the night, it was from the big screen & I love it. See the projector beam on the right bottom side, how cool does it look.
Once again, let me say that PINK is an amazing performer & put on a fabulous show. I can't believe that just one week before this show she postponed a show due to having laryngitis...you certainly couldn't tell that she'd been sick.
Other then that...I've been busy scrappin up a storm...
My lovely friend Melanie...
gave me this fantastic Starwars paper, she knew i had this pic of Alex dressed up as 'Luke Skywalker' for my sisters 40th Birthday Party.
I'm happy with the end result...a little bit of cut & paste using 2 pieces of pp & some Fozz Felt stars that I coloured silver using the Krylon pen, add a bit of glitter & there you go. Isn't he cute!! This was another photo he didn't want to have taken, can you tell by the fake, forced smile!!
This next LO is for the WW1 July Challenge.
Use White + Purple + Circles
The photo is from my brothers wedding & its one of my favourites!! The LO is just the white with the purple circle, i just put the lighter purple under it to take the pic.
This next LO is for the Black with 2 July Challenge.
The criteria was...Black + Maroon + Mustard Yellow + no Flowers + Stamping
This was what I ended up with. Don't particularly like this photo of me & S...I look like a bug with those ugly sunnies on & i always smile to big when I take a self portrait!! We were laughing & had a great arvo fishing so its the memory I like more then the photo so that's why I scrapped it!!
ALSO...don't forget to get you LO's in over here...
LO's for the July chall need to be in by the 31 July...a few days left...
The criteria is...altered photo, use paint on stamps & polka dots...
Or just pop over & check out the great LOs that are there & check out what else is going on.

Let's get shabby

Shabby Chic Challenge #1
The long awaited first challenge!!
It's an INSPIRATIONAL challenge.
Soooooo glean from it what you love and present in a wonderful creation!
You MUST tell us what inspired your creation!!

How beautiful is this image that Let's get Shabby has provided for its 1st chall. So...I took the challenge & this is what I came up with...
I got inspiration from the pic straight away, the colours got me first - soft, tinted colour, those gorgeous fans & the ladies with their eyes peaking over the top & knew I had the perfect picture to use on a LO. I love the elegance of their dresses & hats, everything about them is beautiful. So...i used the soft colours of tans, pink & green & some darker brown & different textures to lift it a bit, the round CI lace paper is similar to those gorgeous fans & picture of my DD (covered with vellum to soften it) is just about my very favourite photo I have of her. I took this pic when we had just move into our house after Reno's, she was leaning on the new deck railing & I said smile & clicked this photo, its just so her -smiling & beautiful. The title 'you are so beautiful to me' seemed to sum it up.

Love that Basic Grey pp & the tiny little Scrapware chippie bird. Oh & that green vine ribbon matched perfectly on the bird cage.

I didn't have the right coloured alphas in the font I wanted to use so I painted them!! I used the Rainboots puffy letters, they were Yellow (daisy), I gesso'd them & dry brushed pink over the top to match. I'm really happy with how they turned out, I didn't know if the paint would take.
OOOhhh...we all love flowers!! I added a few different types with button centres & some heart top pins. I really enjoyed scrappin this LO so thanks Shabby for a great chall!!

Introducing....

and Kylie is a clever chickie.... and created a fantastic "altered photo" and she shared it in the email that she sent.... THANKS Kylie! Would love to see some of you try this technique out!!!
"I altered my photo digitally using a site called PhotoFunia, it has a selection off ready made images that you select & then add/upload your own photos to & then print, save or share the image you've made. The image I choose is of lady's legs in pink high heels with 5 photos scattered on the floor surrounding her legs & her holding one in her hand. The photos I used are actually self portraits that me DD took - bless her heart shes so cute in these pics!! - & they matched the setting & idea I had perfectly.
Here's a link if you'd like to share it on the blog."

Kylie will be representing Crafty Sketches!!!

Dots
Stamps using paint
Altered photo
My photo is altered digitally using a site called PhotoFunia
there are a selection of images that you can upload your own photos to & then print, save or share them from there. I used the image of the girls legs in pink high heels & added glamour shots that Miss T took of herself, I think they fit perfectly.
This LO of A was done using the A2Z Scraplets July sketch http://a2zscraplets.typepad.com/a_2_z_scraplets/

Nigella eat your heart out...

A & I were watching TV yesterday afternoon & Nigella Lawson was on doing her stuff in the kitchen, we happened to catch her making Honeycomb or Hokey Pokey as she called it. He started to say how good it looked & that we should try & make some for ourselves. I knew by his tone that if I didn't help him make it then & there I would never hear the end of it, so Hokey Pokey we made. & it was a great success.
It sets in about 15mins & its rock hard - A wanted to get the hammer out to break it up but I convinced him the rolling pin would do the trick!!

It ended up being easier to break it up with your hands, much to A's disappointment.

Yummy looking colour hey...

& a taste test...
DELICIOUS & even better with ice-cream, or ever better dipped in melted chocolate!!
Here's the recipe - super easy & very quick.
5 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons Golden Syrup
mix together in a saucepan & then put on the heat until melted & bubbling. Don't stir while its on the heat just swish the saucepan around a little to mix if needed. Then a
1 & 1/2 tablespoon Bi-Carb Soda
stir quickly but gently as it will foam up quickly & then pour onto a prepared greased pan/dish.
Leave it to set/dry for 15mins & then break up & enjoy.
Use a large size saucepan to make it in as it foams up alot, I'd say the mix triples in size.

Treasure Hunting...

Some treasures from our op-shop visit...

The cutest pair of earrings...very cute!

lots & lots & lots of buttons...like I need anymore!!!

A beautiful Pink Chenille Bedspread which Miss T & I are going to turn into PJ pants using this little piece of history....
What stylish PJ's these lovely ladies are wearing!! We will make the pants ONLY & make them a little shorter...fingers crossed they turn out. ;0)

A very pretty tablecloth...Miss T seems to think that Ma can turn this into a skirt!! I did fail to mention that little bit to Ma when telling her of said purchase :0). Be prepared Ma!! We saw skirts made from old tablecloths just like this one on sale in the city for $90. OMG but they were very pretty, but not $90 pretty.

& these little beauties...i just think they are beautiful. The leaf is made from what looks to be cooper & the other from some sort of beady stones, just glittery & pretty.
More tomorrow...maybe even some exciting news...

He didn't see the funny side of the getting old bit & had a not-so-nice comment about not even being close to turning 40. I think i have finally struck a sore spot :0)

a sad day in our house....

My lovely little fish has past...

yes I woke up this morning to find his very cold, dead little body at the bottom of his tank. I think we did all right, I've had him for about 18mths & this would have been his second winter. Apparently that's good in fighting fish years, or so the man at the pet shop said. I had to go there last week to get some medicine for poor little Vin as he had a bung, bulging eye ball - also apparently the fish man did know what he was talking about when he said that there probably wasn't much we could do for poor little Vin at that stage in his life but i got the medicine anyway & tried to save him... alas he's now somewhere out in near Morteon Island, I would think, as I flushed him this morning.
Is tomorrow to soon to get another :0) I was very fond of that little fish.

A week in review...

what a week...
school holidays & the kids are busy with holiday stuff & friends!
So I've been busy fiddling around!
Some LO's to finish up the S.W.V CC

This one is using the sketch designed by Janine. A pic of my Dad while on holiday in New Zealand! It fitted perfectly with the Winter Wonderland theme.

Marshmallow toasting LO is for the DT Chall, there was a lot of criteria to fit onto one page but I think I got it all on there. You had to use...white CS, 6 brads, 4 different ribbons, transparency, 4 different pp, no square or rectangle shapes apart from your photo & snowflakes. I think it worked out OK!!
The rest of the week has been busy, two days work this week & other stuff in between. I found a very cool new blog to stalk!!
http://peptogirl.blogspot.com/
She makes dome very cool & cute stuff including this next little guy!!

Is he not the cutest thing you've seen in the last minute!! ;0)
He is now the keeper of all things cutty in my scrappin tool bag & he even matches!
What a happy little face! Miss T & her friend made one each but i didn't get a pic of theirs, but they looked just as good. He is made out of felt & hand stitched together & is actually supposed to be a sunglasses holder.
Then to some baking....
These little beauties disappeared pretty quick!!

100's & 1000's, jelly babies, banana lolly flowers & choc icing....mmmmm...YUMMO!
I must make some more.
Also...over at Scrap with V, a new group of DT ladies have joined. They are very talented girls do have a look at their work on their blogs & in the gallery. JUST FANTASTIC!! I've got them all linked up in the side bar there to your right :0)
Kristy, Sandrine, Tania, Tarym, Brigitte & Martina - WELCOME GIRLS!!.
